Fourth Annual York US 30 Musclecar Madness takes place July 8-9, 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (York, PA) - This year the automotive world celebrates
the Fiftieth Anniversary of the '55 Chevrolet, a car that impacted the auto
world at the time. The Fourth Annual York US 30 Musclecar Madness show to
be presented at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on July 8-9, 2005
will feature several outstanding specimens of this model.
Walt Bailey of Jefferson, Maryland has entered the '55 that appeared in the
movies, American Graffitti and also a movie called Two Lane Blacktop. The
car was featured in Chevy-Hi Performance Magazine and in 1970 it would have
been one of the quickest street machines in the country. Unlike most movie
cars, this car was fully capable of running the number.
Weis Markets, Cars By Dealers, and Newcomer's Towing have returned as
sponsors of the show along with Signs By Tomorrow a new sponsor that has
become the "official sign company" of York US 30 Musclecar Madness. Signs
by Tomorrow is located at 2260 Industrial Highway in York and produces
quality signage for our fast paced business world.
Muscle cars will also be featured throughout the Fourth Annual show with a
group of outstanding Yenko Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas from the Supercar
Registry located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. A variety of all makes produced
in the '60's and '70's will be on display for the two day performance
extravaganza. A special appearance of Charlie Seabrook's 1965 Ford GT40
F1137 will be added to the growing list of entries.
The show has become the Annual Reunion for the Legends of Drag Racing which
includes Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, Buddy Martin and Ronnie Sox of the Sox &
Martin duo, Linda Vaughn, "Miss Hurst Golden Shifter", Bob Riggles famous
for his behind the wheel antics with the "Hurst Hemi Under Glass"
wheelstander also entered in the show, Dick Brannan, Bud Faubel, Bruce
Larson, Tom Sneden, Sam Auxier, Jr., Jungle Pam and the list keeps growing.
A Cruisin Into Summer Cruise In will be featured both days with street
muscle cars and street rods from throughout the East along with a Special
Corvette Fun show that will be hosted by the York County Corvette Club.
The Second Annual Legion of Honor awards will be presented to an elite group
of individuals who will be rewarded for their outstanding contributions to
the performance heritage of drag racing on Saturday at 6 p.m. Each year
twelve recipients receive an individual award and a listing on the perpetual
award that is placed in the Eastern Museum of Motorsports at York Springs,
PA Awards will be presented to Al Olster, Jere Stahl, Jungle "Jim" Liberman
(posthumous), Harold Shorb (posthumous), Ronnie Sox, Harold "Chub" Lorah,
Bill Holz, and "Biddy" Winward of those who have been confirmed at this
writing.
A special reunion of York US 30 Dragway staff and management will be held on
Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as the original management of the track will be
on hand to share in the festivities.
Hours for the show are Friday, July 8th 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday,
July 9th 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with no surprise visits planned for the
President of the United States at any nearby facilities.
Action moves to Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, July 10th with the biggest
and best nostalgia drag racing activities, the York US 30 Nostalgia Super
